In 2007, Monsanto and the Peruvian government revealed their intention to introduce GMO crops in Peru. At that time I was living in a rural area in the US what allowed me to imagine what could be the consecuences in Peru. The agricultural catastrophe I was witnessing would be of greater magnitude in my country because we have a rich biodiversity of crops that would go extinct.

That year I decided to start a campaign to let know the Peruvian public opinion about this. I wrote emails to many art institutions in my country requesting the use of their facades to display billboards. I got no results but I realized that the use of emails had a great potential for my purpose. I started to send emails containing images and videos made from stuff I found in www.monsanto.com

The silkscreen "Monsanto Comemaiz" displays one of those emails. The attached image is the application form, from the US Patent and Trademark Office, filled by Monsanto to request the patent of corn DNA.
